About this listen

Bloomsbury presents 26.2 Miles to Happiness written and read by Paul Tonkinson.

WINNER OF THE TELEGRAPH SPORTS BOOK AWARDS 2021 – SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT BOOK OF THE YEAR

The hilarious trials and tribulations of stand-up comedian Paul Tonkinson as he attempts to beat the much lauded 3-hour mark at the London Marathon.

Along the way, we are introduced to the characters helping Paul with his quest. Celebrity names such as Bryony Gordon, Russell Howard, Roisin Conaty and Vassos Alexander pop up with wit and wisdom, alongside an alpine adventure to the Mayr Clinic with Michael McIntyre that pushes Paul to the limit. And not forgetting the ‘words of wisdom’ and derision from Paul’s anti-running friend, Richard.

With a supporting cast of fellow comedians, this is a warmly written and wonderfully honest adventure-through-sport that will both entertain and inspire.

Hilarious

Absolutely love this book. Paul has a great way of talking about running and had me chuckling through my long runs. One of the best running books I’ve read.

Great Listen

Absolutely loved listening to Paul’s book. I am a runner albeit nowhere near Paul’s level although it has inspired me to know I can be better.
That said, you don’t need to be a runner to listen to this book as it’s not just about running but also about achieving.
Paul’s writing has just the right mix of humour & he narrates his own words which is great.
I thoroughly enjoyed this & certainly recommend it to anyone. If you clicked on it & is reading the reviews to try and make up your mind, think no further. You’ll love it in the end.
Enjoy 👍🏼

Like a Jaffa cake, but the gluten free version

This book is lightly entertaining and manages to keep going at the pace of your regular club runner. Its easy and jovial.
That said, Paul really missed a trick here and I kept hoping that he would give more of himself enter the pain cave of his personal struggles. Sadly, he keeps the reader at an arms distance and cloaks himself in humour.

He achieves his target but misses ours.

just what every runner needs.

From time to time we all need that little pick me up, just someone saying that your not the only one going through a rough patch. this book is funny, inspirational and there are parts that every runner can relate to. Thank you Paul Tonkinson and yes 'I can do this'
