About this listen
Maizie’s Got One Mother of a Case. Her Own.
Maizie’s mixing with international stars, spies, and her mother’s dark past in her sixth case in The Wall Street Journal best-selling series.
#WannabeDetectiving
While ex-celebrity Maizie Albright’s dreams of becoming a for-real private investigator have not exactly been dashed, they have been slightly thwarted. Her ex-manager and still-mother, Vicki Albright, has taken the helm of Nash Security Services while rebuilding her entertainment management company. Sometimes with the same clients. Like Chinese action star, Lili Liang, who’s making the film Unlucky 18 in Georgia.
Thus far, Lili’s living up to her movie title. Her kung fu coach is missing. Her boyfriend’s disappeared. And her director, who gambled on her with the part, might be gambling with her life.
Maizie’s luck is also running out. Maizie and Nash find themselves struggling to balance a new partnership and new relationship between missing persons’ cases, wild goose chases, and tracking a bullet into dangerous places. Sometimes it’s enough to make a girl NOT want to put a ring on it. When it comes to facing an 18-caliber killer, what will Maizie put up as the target? Her heart or her life?
Grab the sixth book in The Wall Street Journal best-selling series and learn why Maizie Albright’s cases are “raucous and addictive reads” full of “twists, turns, romantic tension, humor, and fast quips!”

More action behind the camera in this great book
I loved this book but then again all the books in this series has got a five star review from me, they are just that good. This is book six and even through the stories are stand alone books I know you won't be disappointed if you start with book one and work your way through the series. There is so much going on in the story that it holds your attention the whole way though. The cast of characters are so much fun. I like the way that they play off each other and despite the great plot, I think the characters are the main reason that I lock my doors so I won't get disturbed while listening and can find what happens next or which twist the plot is going to take next. The mystery was good and I had no idea who the killer was. I still want to see this series made into a tv series because it's got it all action, spies, mystery, betrayal, family, romance and fish.
Maizie and Nash find working for a new boss isn't what they are use to or want. The boss, Maizie mother, has the private detectives working as handymen more than detectives, as they fit security cameras at a film studio. But worse of all she expects them to be at her beck and call and come running without asking questions when she calls, even on a Sunday night. When the pair arrive at her home they find a Chinese film delegation has moved in and someone has shot at Vicki's fish. Vicki wants them to find out why there is a bullet in the fish tank, never mind that the kung fu coach is missing, the stars boyfriend has disappeared and the director is in hospital after being in a fight. It's not long before things turn deadly and a missing persons case turns into a murder investigation. Maizie fearing for her mother's life moves into the mansion, so she can keep.her safe (or kill her herself) and keep an eye on all the suspects but the problem is, she isn't the only one watching. Can Maizie and Nash work out what is really going on? because there turns out to be a lot more action behind the camera than in front of it.
I like the narrator she does a good job with bringing the characters to life and is probably one of the reasons why it isn't hard to picture the scenes play out. That and the great writing.
