About this listen
Visiting a wealthy friend during university holiday, Stephen wakes to find his bed invaded by a late arriving, drunken houseguest stumbling into the wrong room. From this dubious beginning, a romance slowly develops.
At first Lord Peter Northrup is only interested in the young man as a lusty diversion. He tutors him in secret pleasures shared by men like them, intending to keep their special liaison brief, light, and temporary. But after Northrup leaves, he can't forget the young man who managed to touch his jaded heart.
During their time apart, Peter and Stephen change, and when they meet again, their affair flames hotter than ever. Can a peer of the realm and a middle-class young man bearing heavy responsibilities maintain a lasting relationship? Will Peter accept the possibility of true love in his shallow life, and will Stephen risk everything and trust a man who's already hurt him once?

Amazing narration
While suffering a little from the excess of P without Plot, the plot we do get is actually pretty good. The Characters are believable, one young and green but not naiive, the other older and jaded but a romantic at heart. Their chemistry is palpable and the story about a young man having to deal with a more experienced (and baggaged) partner is a classic. Overall I loved it but as a historical buff the inconsistencies kept pulling me out of the Regency era. They are not too horrible as to be a crime against literature as some historical romance novels do (which shall not be named) but dont expect K J Charles or Harper Fox level of attention to detail and excellence. For what this book is trying to be it is doing a good job and I would recommend it.
Collin's narration is impeccable as always.

Good story
A lovely story liberally interspersed with no holds barred gay sex. The narrator is superb.

The Bridges of Northrup
The excellent narration added to what was actually quite a shallow trite tale, breathing an energy and passion not reached by the actual words written in this "seduction". As an avid reader of Georgette Heyer, I'm very familiar what gaming hells and cock fights are. This story did not milk it's genre to create action and drama, but was like a modern MM story transported back in time. I doubt very much there were purpose built toilet blocks at clubs with locks on the door in those times, rather just a drainage farrow in the yard, or a porcelain guzunder behind a curtain if you were lucky.
By contrast Cornell Collins narrates Any Old Diamonds by KJ Charles where the excellent characterizations of Alex and Gerry reach such an intensity in their relationship, banter and passion, I have now enjoyed it four times!
It's taken me over a week to get round to finishing this book; it's just a bridge too far. IT WAS OK

Nope not for me
I tried, I really did but I just couldn't get on with this audio book. The narrator grated on my nerves and they storyline just wasn't interesting enough.
Some may find it's for them but for me it has to be a no.
