About this listen
JJ Whitehurst has made billions for his clients—and millions for himself—over the years. An unapologetic workaholic, he finds solace in his career. It’s easier to evade personal entanglements when he’s always working. Then along comes a forced vacation and the keys to his father’s Santa Monica beach house, neither of which he wants, and the terrifying thought of that much free time, alone causes him to reach out for company.
Rory McMillian’s first night as an escort brings him face-to-face with the daddy of his dreams. All six-foot-five and 200 pounds of muscle is made for sin. When his client can’t let go, one night turns into one week. And by the end, an offer is made.
Be JJ’s kept boy.
The proposal is tempting, but Rory refuses. He won’t live as some shameful secret, no matter how drawn he is to JJ. Yet, as weeks pass, he can’t stop thinking of the opportunity he tossed aside.
Fate steps in and compels the pair to face one another again—but circumstances have changed. They conceal their knowledge of one another and the simmering attraction they both still feel. But how long can they before their desire boils over?
This MM Romance is filled with sweet heat, a demanding daddy, and lots of lingerie. If that's your thing, this might be the story for you.

This can be read as a standalone. It's completely separate from the first two books in the series.
So much angst and push and pull and drama but I loved the story. I listened from start to finish in one listen. I couldn't wait to find out what would happen next with all the twists involved. What I didn't like wss JJs attitude and his treatment of Rory. It got frustrating cause Rory was an adorable, sweet, innocent, femme twink ray of sunshine. I absolutely loved him. Whereas JJ took being grumpy to epic levels and was in the closet and came across as selfish, wanting the best of both worlds with no consequences or effort on his part. When the two were together though and getting along, they were a great couple with undeniable chemistry. It was fairly low steam. I kind of expected more considering their arrangement. I did love all the lace inclusions though.
The narrator did a fabulous job. He had a pleasantreadingvoice. He kept a good pace and he expressed all the emotions and brought the story to life. He did distinct voices for not only the 2 main characters but all the side characters too and they were all pleasant and suited their character. My only 2 small complaints are that all the female characters sounded the same and he pronouned multiple words so wrong that it that it totally took me out of the moment and boggled my mind.

Amusing
I was sort of burned out on the daddy thing but something about this drew me to listen to it. I’m glad I did. Very entertaining. There is so many different situations in this story that each on their own could be a book yet together they made this story unpredictable. Rory trying to make it as a writer is having a hard time paying the bills. When his car breaks down and its way out of what he can afford he resorts to trying to make money a different way. His way of justifying it was funny in itself. His first time being an escort turns into more than a job…there is an instant attraction to JJ yet he knows that isn’t the way this works.
JJ is bisexual but has no plans on anyone finding that out except his twin. When his usual escort is unavailable, he ends up with Rory. This is a game changer. He really is attracted to Rory but because of his dad, job and career he can’t come out as other than straight. He has had past things that have caused him to fear anyone finding out he likes guys.
Their one night turns into more but all good things come to an end and each return to their lives. Yet something keeps both thinking about the other. The circumstances and events that bring them back together are surprising. The way they deal with all of it is entertaining. Rory’s mom plays a big part of this story and she is to be admired. The narration by John York brings life to these characters. I feel at times he didn’t capture JJ’s moods very well but overall he did the different characters well.

Sweet, frustrating and meant to be!
There is a lot of back and forth with these two but each push and pull just cements the kismet of these two being together.
There are ups and downs and a little twist here and there but a great fast paced and passionate story. The characters are well rounded and grow and improve as the story goes on. I feel like the "step brother" part is actually more of an anecdote and didn't need to be focused on at all.
Rory is so sweet and his love of all the pretty things is sexy and so him. JJ's stubborn, determined and set in his ways but thankfully his determination is finally put to great use in the end lol.
Note: there are differences between the ebook and the audio but both versions have all the same heart!

Entertaining
I really enjoyed the story, it was entertaining.
JJ is just working and enjoying his life way too little. He is bi, but no one can know that for fear of how his financial clients will react and how his father will react.
Rory is a writer and has a hard time keeping his head above water. When his car breaks down, he is tempted to do something unusual that will quickly bring in the money he needs.
That he falls in love with JJ was not planned. That JJ doesn't want to come out is not an option for Rory and so he draws his consequences.
It doesn't take long and both meet again - as future stepbrothers.
Rory's mother plays a big role, she is very sympathetic, also works a lot and has fallen in love with JJ's father.
What follows is an entertaining section. A bit more communication between JJ and Rory would have been good, but the two definitely can't deny their feelings for each other. If it weren't for the circumstances as they are now. It's a messy situation.
John York did a good job of bringing the story to life. I could tell the protagonists apart well and he narrated the story at a comfortable pace.
