About this listen
Nick Fairfax vows to do whatever Lord Bane Dunsaney desires for one year. In exchange, Nick's family gets a chance to regain their fortune. Is this the worst mistake of Nick's life, or will it lead to a love only found in fairy tales? Book 1 of our modern, M/M retelling of Beauty & The Beast.*
*Cursed: Broken is the first book of a 3-book series, which will all be published in 2016.*
Sensitive, aspiring photographer Nick Fairfax wants nothing to do with his family's corporate business, or their vicious, cold-blooded lifestyle. Intending to give up his inheritance and pursue his art, he arrives at his father's office, only to find that Fairfax Industries has fallen to a scarred man in a hooded cloak.
The man is the reclusive billionaire Lord Bane Dunsaney, and he is bent on destroying the Fairfaxes. But when he sees Nick, *everything* changes. Bane offers the Fairfaxes the chance to regain their fortune if Nick will reside at Moon Shadow, his secluded mansion, and do whatever the billionaire wants for a whole year. Nick has no real choice other than to agree to Bane's terms.
At Moon Shadow, Bane lords his power over Nick, going even so far as to take Nick's phone, computer and beloved camera away. The billionaire claims such measures are to protect his *privacy*, but Nick is convinced they are so Bane can control *him.*
Each is determined to see the worst in each other. But as time passes, Nick glimpses a Bane that is much more than the cold-hearted figure that he met in his father's office. He discovers that Bane is a man betrayed by love and no longer believes in it.
But what Nick comes to know about Bane is nothing compared to the man's true secret. Bane is *cursed.* He is a tiger-shifter who has *no control* over his beast. And that beast wants Nick.
*Cursed: Bound,* Book 2 of the series, is in progress and scheduled for late summer 2016! To find out more, check our blog here because we post often: http://welcome.raythereign.com/category/raythe-reign-team-blog/

A wonderful retelling of a classic.
I loved the story so far, very emotional. I will definitely be listening to the rest of the series.

A very interesting take on beauty and the beast
I debated starting this series for about two months, then for some reason I finally gave in (partially coz it was Michael Pauley reading it) But I am so glad I did, this is the first book in the series and it's a bit of a rollercoaster ride. Nick's family are rotten to their core, all apart from Nick of course, Blane is a very lost and damaged soul. When the two first meet it's not pretty, and there's a rough and bumpy road ahead of them.
A beautiful story that just gets better and better the further you get into it.

A strong start to a heart wrenching love story
I love the books written by X. Aratare, so when I discovered they had been recorded as audiobooks I swiftly collected my favourites Cursed and The Merman. I have since gone back and purchased all the works by X. Aratare.
This story has an uneasy premise the young man sold for one year. But the author handles the material well and draws you in, so much so you find yourself routing for a character you should hate given their actions. Not only are Nick and Bane likeable and their actions understandable, but so are the secondary characters of Omar and Jade. Nick's family however..... They are hard to forgive and you feel maybe they are getting what they deserve.
I listen to this story again and again.
But heads up this is part of a series and therefore this and book 2 end on a cliffhanger. If you don't like this you might be better with the short story Cursed Smoke, which features the same characters but a different meeting and story arc. However, all the places and situations evolved in Cursed Smoke can be found in main Cursed books.

Great start to the series
Enjoyed this book and was eager to get the rest in the series, despite the narrator not being my favourite and being a bit nasally. However, I’ve since listened to the last two books and it really goes down hill and I will be returning those two. Such a shame as this book laid the groundwork for something good.

Good story, give it a try.
Ok so the story in it self is quite good.
The one who read it… his voice is so monotone. Maybe because im used to listen to Raythe reading her own books that its strange to listen to someone else.
But give it a try and im sure you’re gonna like it too.
