Summary
Gideon calls me his angel, but he’s the miracle in my life. My gorgeous, wounded warrior, so determined to slay my demons while refusing to face his own.
The vows we'd exchanged should have bound us tighter than blood and flesh. Instead they opened old wounds, exposed pain and insecurities, and lured bitter enemies out of the shadows. I felt him slipping from my grasp, my greatest fears becoming my reality, my love tested in ways I wasn’t sure I was strong enough to bear.
At the brightest time in our lives, the darkness of his past encroached and threatened everything we’d worked so hard for. We faced a terrible choice: the familiar safety of the lives we’d had before each other or the fight for a future that suddenly seemed an impossible and hopeless dream…

Crossfire
I loved this book just as much as the others. It took a few chapters to get use to the male voice of Gideon after hearing it from Ava's point of view. For the stage in the saga, the pace of the novel was off beat. As a fan I feel it could have been completed in less chapters. So if the sex scenes did not add to the story.

Narration had me cringing at points.
I found the narrators trying to do the voice of the opposite sex very cringe worthy. The narrators didn’t sound comfortable which makes the reader uncomfortable too. Didn’t make it unlistenable though and I loved the story, great even though it’s book no. 4 in the series but still a fantastic read and no less substance than the first 3 books. I look forward to hearing more from Sylvia Day out-with the Crossfire series.

Different but nice
It took me a while to adjust to the male voice and even longer to adjust to 2 voices narrating the same characters. I didn't like it at first but towards the middle I realised that the male voice added some more depth to Gideon and it was nice. It's worth sticking with it.
