Summary
Lady Eleanor Petersham knows exactly what she wants from her marriage - a man who will worship at her feet.
Instead, her father marries her off to her brother's best friend, the devastatingly handsome, authoritative, and devilishly dominant Lord Edwin Hyde.
It doesn't matter that he makes her entire body tingle when he kisses her, or brings her to heights of pleasure she's never known, or how he disciplines her when she plays nasty tricks on him - like throwing a dinner party which only includes dishes with ingredients he despises - she's not willing to give up on her version of marriage without a fight.
Pain and pleasure struggle for dominance the same way husband and wife do in this relationship.

Excellent reading of a favourite book
I have enjoyed all seven of the books in this series and was delighted to find the first one on Audible. The narration is very good and I enjoyed revisiting the book with this new version

I'm Impressed
Eleanor has been spoiled and pampered by her mother for years. Her father puts a stop to this by making sure she is properly disciplined so she doesn't shame the family. He arranges her marriage immediately after her coming out party to somebody he knows will keep her in line as much as he did. I'm surprised I enjoyed this story. Normally stories like this make me feel very uncomfortable. It's not that I am against it. It's just not really my cup of tea. Something told me this would be different. That this author was different. I was completely right. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the books. I didn't really feel connected with the characters as much as I got connected with the story itself. I cared about them, but I didn't really feel what they felt. I honestly can't say I really cared for Eleanor that much either. She was a spoiled little brat who didn't care about anybody's feelings but her own. Not that she deserved to be treated like a child, but still. S. Kitten was a terrific narrator for this story. I'm not sure if she narrates the rest of the series, but I sincerely hope she does. I enjoyed hearing her voice very much. it was very soothing. As weird as that sounds. She got some words mixed up here and there, but it still worked. Her performance was beautiful. I stepped out of my comfort zone with this book. I'm glad I did. This book was definitely wonderful and sensual. It's not what I expected at all. Or maybe I should say that it was much more than I expected. Maybe it defeated all expectations and kept going.

A great start to a great series
What made the experience of listening to Birching His Bride the most enjoyable?
Bringing to even more life the characters in a series of books I very much enjoyed reading. Listening to a book, by definition a slower process than reading, was a wonderful way of relishing the characters and the story even more.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Eleanor without a doubt - her inner thoughts, motivations, confusions and realisations made her believable and real. Eleanor coming to terms with a marriage she thought she did not want and finding reality very different despite her shenanigans was very well done.
Which character – as performed by S. Kitten – was your favourite?
Eleanor again!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Definitely! But real life intervened!
Any additional comments?
I have the entire set of eBooks and will be looking out for the rest of the series on audiobook.

Can't wait for the other books in this series.
Eleanor and Edwin's are childhood friends as well as Edwin being the best friend of Eleanor's brother. Neither one of them thought they'd marry each other but it happened and Eleanor is resentful.

Very enjoyable
This book I found really enjoyable as there was a slightly different feel to the storyline compared to Golden’s previous punishment books. With good characters that are charming, I really enjoyed this escape. I’m looking forward to the next book and hope that the feelings and vibe continues.
