Loved It.

Book 3: Nyphron Rising by Michael J. Sullivan.

Absolutely loving my adventures in world of Elan with my two new favourite thieves Royce Melborn and Hadrian Blackwater. Nyphron Rising is the third book of the series Riyria Revelations series. They are so fast paced, action packed and so much fun with fantastic character development. I just recently came across Mr. Sullivan's books, and am very glad I did. I loved all three, and I am very much looking forward to reading the next three in the series. This book has our wonderful duo Royce and Hadrian up to their no good selves, but it also has the amazing character Princess Arista where she is finally coming into her own. In the story Princess Arista stays true to her character, yet she seems real in that she has her moments of doubts and anxieties in herself and what she is doing, wondering if what she is doing is right for all. Elan is at war and after the imperialists have got a foot hold with new their new fledgling empire and put a puppet Empress on the Throne. Arista is willing to do what it takes to save her country and help others, along with using the magical arts she learned from the powerful wizard Esrahaddan and her professor Arcadius. A brilliant fantasy tale for all fans of the genre, very highly recommended....😁💙🔥⚔️💥

Book 4: The Emerald Storm by Michael J. Sullivan.

I have absolutely loves this series from the very start, it continues to keep getting better, The Emerald Storm is the fourth book in Riyria Revelations series. As we learn more about Royce and Hadrian past we want more. Michael J. Sullivan tells the story with just enough detail to give you a perfect picture. Many times a series might lose it's appeal after four books, it becomes more of the same old stuff. Not so with Riyria Revelations, the author continues to deliver an adventure that gets better with each book and leaves you wanting more and more. As we continue with each book we are introduced to new fascinating characters. Things are hotting up Elan as imperialists look to take full control, Royce and Hadrian take berth on a ship for a high seas adventure to find the lost Heir of Novron and uncover sinister plots made to destroy the last resistance against the Empire. Their journey finds them adrift amid treachery and betrayals forcing Hadrian to face a past he hoped never to see again. Wonderful storytelling at its finest, very highly recommend...😁💙🔥💥⚔️

So good, I was ready to rate it 5 stars before finishing it!

I must admit, I was a teensy bit on the fence about the narrator's skills in the first performance, but this, the second one, I thought was excellent. The story is superlative fantasy fare, with royalty, conspiracy, battles, intrigue, double-dealing, journeys and new cites and peoples to get to know, all expertly woven into a rapid pace tale that kept me sat in the car, outside my house, rapt, and not able to tear myself away from the listen.

The reluctant and basically indentured Empress Modina is a great twist to the tale, and Royce and Hadrian are the best pair of linked protagonists I think I've come across since Robin Hobb's Fitz and The Fool.

Super reading, definitely recommended

Riyria Revelations series gets even better

I loved this second volume of the Riyria Revelations - Rise of Empire. Tim Gerard Reynolds does a brilliant job of narrating the characters, each with their own voice and character. War in Melengar, a continued search for the Heir of Novron, Princess Arista, Amelia, the Empress - wow what a story. I couldn't stop listening. I'm now onto the final instalment of the Riyria Revelations and it just gets better.

Masterpiece of classic fantasy-adventure

A great read/listen for anyone who loves classic fantasy adventure.

Strong cast of characters (led by the Royce and Hadrian who we learn more about in this book), cool locations, fast paced plot and plenty of action. While the first entry in this series struggled a bit to set up the world and characters this 2nd entry hits the ground running and doesn't look back while also setting the stage nicely for the final entry in the trilogy.

Overall this is a strong middle book in arguably the best modern fantasy trilogy and is definitely worth a look for fans of the genre.
