About this listen
Anty travels to the Riviera to finally have that awkward "did you murder my father" conversation with his mother, but instead finds himself in the ticklish position of defending her and an innocent elephant against charges of a murder that no one could have committed.
Like all Anty Boisjoly mysteries, Reckoning at the Riviera Royale is a stand-alone stumper populated with eccentric characters and composed of impossible murder and improbable intrigues, delivered with signature Boisjoly banter, and it’s best enjoyed by those who like a little humor in their whodunnit.
Anty Boisjoly is a serious experiment in a whimsical line—Christie-esque locked-room mysteries written in the style of PG Wodehouse. The reviews are in and the experiment is a success. Listeners emphasize in particular the witty and whimsical first-person voice of Anty Boisjoly narrating the nevertheless twisty mysteries.

Better and better!
Another enjoyable few hours spent in the company of Anty and Vickers. As usual the mystery is bonkers and Byzantine in just the right proportions. I missed the Inspector, but Anty’s mother was everything we’d hoped she would be!

I’m hooked!
Great fun, good characters, tall tales & unlikely twists… Hope Audible has the next story soon! The narrator is spot on and you can really hear the echoes of young Bertie Wooster in every one-liner.

My Current Obsession...
More time well spent with the loveable Anty Boisjoly (like the wine region) and the wonderfully 'idle rich' of the1920's. This series is a joy to lose yourself in, thanks to the hilariously written characters, bonkers murder plots and the consistently excellent audio performance of Tim Bryce. Plus, the addition of MaMA Boisjoly is a joy.

What a storm!
I have binged all 5 of these books in 6 days. Fantastic! Just love the style, the characters, the lot! But the thing that has made me pen this review is the description of the storm on the Riviera, pure poetry!

Good fun
I didn't enjoy this story quite as much as the other three but the narrator was as brilliant as ever and I love the characters

Oh Mr Fitzsimmons you’ve done it again. Absolutely fabulous twist and turns with some gorgeous characters. So hope there are lots more of Anty and his antics.

Boisjoly Brilliance at its Best!
What do you get if you cross the wit of PD Wodehouse, the ingenuity of Agatha Christie & the characterisation of Dorothy L Sayers? The magnificent mysteries* of Anty Boisjoly that’s what.
Another cracking case solved with the dulcet tones of the talented Tim Bruce. There are very few characters who I wish were real and who I wish I could meet: Hercule Poirot & Lord Peter Wimsey have always been up there… But now, how I’d love to spend an afternoon at The Juniper Club with Mr Boisjoly! Well done PJ Fitzsimmons!
*My only issue in earlier books is the use of Americanisms that just don’t sit right (sidewalk is a frequent one,) unless they’re being used in an ironic way & I’m missing the joke? Hasn’t stopped my enjoyment of the series though.

The narrator. This reader is the best I’ve ever come across by miles. The humour is so perfectly done.
The story has the usual impossibleness. Parts felt rushed but generally I liked Anty’s uncertainty as he approached the difficult conversation the rest of the series has led up to! Very clever. This story had fewer accidentally-wrong-for-the-setting Americanisms like ‘sidewalk’ but they didn’t used to say ‘the what, now?’ Back then did they? Occasional modernisms still creep in. The series is brilliant though!
