I loved the story. These secret baby stories are a favorite of mine! Love listening to a big gruff man turn into a true teddy bear for his baby and lady. Watching what love and family can do to a man's heart. Fantastic read. The narrator did a great job as well!

This is now the second novella of JK Harper's that I've read/listened to and I'm happy to report that I liked this one even better than the last. Harper is quickly becoming someone for me to fangirl over.
Mountain Bear's Baby is Shane's and Jessie's story. They had a fantastic couple of days together before they went their separate ways. Only Jessie wasn't alone when they said goodbye. She had a bun cooking in her oven and had no idea how to get in touch with Shane to let him know. She chose to keep the baby and ended up having a beautiful boy who she named Grant. But there was something different about Grant. Thank goodness Jessie's friend, Livy, knew what was happening with him and was there to guide her. And wasn't Jessie surprised when following Livy's advice brought her face to face with Shane...
Once again Harper wove a fun tale for her readers. Both Shane and Jessie were likeable characters. I think it took bravery and strength for Jessie to make the changes in her life that she did. I loved Shane's reaction to the news that he was a dad. Ok yes, at first it was rocky but the true meaning behind his actions were spelled out later in the story. Oh and Grant = major cutness!
As with the first story in this series the secondary characters shine. Livy was fabulous when it came to standing up for Jessie. I did a little cheer for female solidarity and friendship during that scene. Surprisingly Mrs. Walker, Shane's aunt, made an appearance in the story. I loved the note that she left behind when she went on vacation in Hunter's Moon so it was awesome that she got some page time. I think I love that woman. Although her presence in the story is a bit of a continuity conundrum since she's still supposed to be on her trip. Maybe she came home for Christmas?
About the narrator...
Beth Roeg is still new to me as this is only the second of her performances that I've listened to. However, she's quickly becoming a favorite. I find myself anxious to hear her other work. I just love the way she narrates!
Something that had me giggling...

Cute!
This is a short but fun story, I was entertained. Despite the length, the storyline doesn't feel rushed. The characters are charming and likeable. Beth Roeg did a great job with the narration. I was given a free copy of this audiobook and have voluntarily left this review.
