About this listen
Tilley galloped into Judge Joe Blackwell's yard, trying not to think of what she had just witnessed. Jasper had rushed home after he had asked her to marry him yesterday, to a woman who had to be five months pregnant, his Ann. Why didn't he just tell her? But then she told him she didn't care; it was not as if she didn't have enough shit going on in her life at the moment.
The ticket to New Mexico was in her hand as Tilley hugged her grandfather Joe goodbye. She had misjudged him all these years, for they were so much alike. Guess that apple not falling far from the tree is true. She was as ruthless as the judge when someone hurt a member of the family. Her sister, Faith, had been beaten severely by a horse thief who had stolen the ranch's prize saddlebred stallion, Trouble.
Joe Blackwell slipped a money pouch into Tilley's hand and smiled. 'Use this to bribe your way to Lonnie Pratt. You know he will never need to come back here to stand trial. Whatever you do, keep in touch, and if you need me, I'll be on the next train out west. I love you, Tilley Hall.
Found is number five in the Lost series, the ongoing story of the Hall girls of Bedford County.
